17th Century Village: 1642 Experience

Step back to the 17th century, specifically to the year 1642 at 'Little Woodham'.  This fascinating living museum recreates village life from the period. Tour the village and let the costumed interpreters – the ‘villagers’ – involve you in their daily life. Observe the skills of the blacksmith, help prepare timber and admire the craft of the lace-makers and weavers, or stop off at the local ale-house.

The village is on the edge of the Alver Valley, why not make a day of it – bring a picnic and take a gentle stroll through this green oasis. (If you are visiting between March and October you may want to obtain a permit for the Wildgrounds nature reserve next door to the Village. You can get permits from the Tourist Information Centre)

The 17th Century Village isn't open every day, so for opening dates, ticket prices and directions, see www.littlewoodham.org.uk.
