Five family-friendly days out in Gosport this Easter 2025

With the school break nearly upon us, you might be looking for ideas for what to do with the little ones.

Here are five family-friendly highlights from across the borough:

1- Minibeast fun at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery

Throughout Easter there are lots of low cost or free family events you can take part in:

  • Butterfly Trail Hunt – follow the clues, search for hidden butterflies and learn fascinating facts about them – 5 to 19 April, £2 per trail 
  • Magnifying Glass Minibeast Investigation – investigate the world of minibeasts up close using magnifying glasses and learn fun facts about their features, habitats and behaviours – 8 and 15 April, free
  • Minibeast Life Cycles – an hour-long session will include storytelling, craft and an interactive game to get children moving – 10 and 17 April, £2
  • Kid’s Sip and Paint: Easter Eggstravaganzer – a fun-filled session combines painting Easter-themed masterpieces with sipping on a delicious milkshake or smoothie – 11 and 18 April, £5 – booking essential
  • Minibeast Makes – using colourful materials and their imaginations, children will learn about the wonderful world of minibeasts while crafting keepsakes to take home – 19 April, free

2 – Explore Fort Brockhurst

11.00am – 3.00pm – Saturday 12 April 2025

Bring a picnic and enjoy a day exploring this 19th century fort as it opens for the 2025 summer season.

Fort Brockhurst is open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month April – October 11.00am – 3.00pm.

3 – Take a flight at the Hovercraft Museum

Saturdays and Sundays, 10.00am – 4.00pm

Visit the Hovercraft Museum to imagine what it’s like to pilot a real hovercraft, sit in James Bond’s iconic hovercraft and step into the cockpit of the largest commercial hovercraft ever built.

4 – Adventure through time at Little Woodham 

Select dates from Saturday 5 April

Open the doors of real homes, meet their residents, and immerse yourself in the everyday life of a small village.

Venue: Little Woodham, Grange Farm, Barrington Close, Gosport, Hants, PO13 8NZ

5 – Have a whale of a time at our free splash parks

From Easter, Gosport’s splash parks are open for the summer [add internal link to above news article].  Free, family fun for under 11s – with nearby playgrounds, parking, toilets and cafes.

Venue: Stokes Bay Splash Park and Lee-on-the-Solent Splash Park
