The former HMS Daedalus naval airfield at Lee-on-the-Solent is being redeveloped to include new homes, jobs and community facilities. 

The plans also include proposals to restore historic buildings on the site, and support for the Hovercraft Museum which is at the heart of the development. 

About the Daedalus development site

The 42-acre site overlooks the Solent and the Isle of Wight. It also includes a conservation area and several listed and other important heritage assets. 

Part of the site has already been redeveloped to provide small and medium-sized industrial units, which are all now occupied by employers mainly in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.

A major developer is now developing the remainder of the waterfront. They are bringing forward plans for further employment space along with mixed-use leisure, residential and commercial space.
