When construction began in 1745 this was the first purpose built naval hospital for the sick and wounded in England and it welcomed patients for over 250 years. 

The main hospital building was once the largest brick-built building in Europe. It overlooks the Solent is surrounded by 62 acres of beautiful Grade II registered parkland. 

Next steps

The whole location is currently being redeveloped into luxury waterfront accommodation, including over 280 residences, a 60-bed care home and 244 retirement units. The original Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian buildings are being restored and repurposed to create new homes and business units.
