  1. Queen Victoria frequently visited Gosport having her own private railway station at Victoria Quay en-route to Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Queen Victoria is said to prefer Gosport to avoid Portsmouth apparently being treated disrespectfully by ‘Ladies’ in Portsmouth.
  2. The site includes a plaque marking her railway station. 
  3. The café serves traditional cream teas, a nod to Victorian tastes.
  4. Queen Victoria’s railway lines can still be seen nearby with a railway tunnel especially permitted by The War Dept, constructed through the Gosport Ramparts, the fortifications can still be seen today in adjacent Weevil Lane.
