Stokes Bay Beach

Stokes Bay Beach is a favourite for its pebble shores, panoramic views, and tranquil atmosphere. From leisurely walks to water sports, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss the spectacular sunsets over the Solent. (Part of Stokes Bay Conservation area.)

Nearby you can enjoy a children’s playground and splash park, adventure golf course, cafés, and a BBQ and picnics space. You can also enjoy the sea by hiring a kayak or paddleboard from Stoked Watersports. Dogs are allowed on the beach outside of the summer season.

Facts:

  1. Stokes Bay played a crucial role in the D-Day preparations the Command Centre is now the Sailing Club, being the embarkation site at D-Day, also a Mulberry Harbours construction site.
  2. It’s part of the Solent Way walking route.
  3. The bay is a hotspot for paddleboarding and kayaking.
  4. A unique war memorial here honours the Canadian & British Troops which embarked on D-Day (1944), with the adjacent Mulberry Harbours Memorial.
  5. Stokes Bay is rumoured to have a “ghost ship” that appears in the fog.
